Tool Talk

I have always been a DIYer, even from an early age. I made my own toys, like swords, shields and guns and eventually moved on to bigger projects like a soapbox car, all done with a few hand tools since we had no power tools at that time. Eventually after having my own home with home maintenance and improvement, hand tools were not enough and I began accumulating power tools, usually one at a time as a job called for it, starting with a drill and going on to a jigsaw, sander, circular saw, router and reciprocating saw. For financial reasons I usually purchased the least expensive one available, and I learned a valuable lesson, cheaper is not always best. The quality of the finished product was not the best and the tool itself either failed or did not perform well. I also learned that cordless battery powered tools made the work much easier, as when remodeling a summer cottage including making patio furniture and a dock on the lake. That is why I am promoting high quality woodworking power tools, usually but not always cordless. Their versatility of setting, quality of outcome, and freedom from breakdown make them well worth the price.
